MargaretMargaret Sutherland is part of generations of generosity. For her, giving was a family affair. Margaret was a lifelong Irving resident and a 1953 business graduate of Southern Methodist University. Within a decade of earning that degree, she would serve with her father, Wre Sutherland, on committees to organize and then help open Irving’s only nonprofit community hospital. Across the decades, Margaret was a donor and eventually served on the Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation Board of Directors. During her life, Sutherland had a goal for her giving—and then a secondary goal to give through her estate. After her death in 2018, the foundation and hospital recognized her generosity and her volunteer service by naming one of the medical center’s towers for her family.
