Since 1977, caring community leaders have supported Irving’s only nonprofit hospital, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving, with contributions to make possible make facility expansions, diagnosis and treatment enhancements, and the continuing education of nurses and allied health staff members. Gifts from friends totaling nearly $70 million given through Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation have created an award-winning hospital recognized nationally for quality, safety and service to its patients. Since 2006, donors have been able to support other healthcare nonprofits in Irving such as Irving Community Clinic for the uninsured, the Childhood Obesity Taskforce (funds efforts to battle family obesity), and Canine Companions for Independence, which provides service dogs without charge to those who qualify based on need.
